Dock Anchoring Made Easy
To determine the anchor system needed for their design, installers must know the type of waterscape, how protected the area is, and the water depth before selecting an anchoring system. Consult with a local dealer to determine options for anchoring if needed.
The following anchoring methods with descriptions are listed below:
- Pipe Anchoring: Commonly used in residential or small-scale commercial waterfronts up to eighteen feet. Allows horizontal movement is an added benefit for waters that fluctuate during seasons.
- Piling Anchoring: Piling that are used (wooden, metal, or concrete) as a support structure is the securest anchoring system that can be used for a floating dock system.
- Deadweight Anchoring: Deadweight anchoring is typically used in deeper water when pipe anchoring isn’t viable, or if ice conditions may be present.
- Stiff Arm Anchoring: Typically used when pipes cannot be used or are prohibited due to environmental protections.
Pipe Anchoring
Pipe anchoring is a widely-used method for securing residential and commercial installations. Snap Dock offers a variety of pipe anchoring brackets that integrate seamlessly with our modular floating dock system. Our range includes:
- Light Duty Pipe Bracket (SKU: LTD-BRKT-GR-ASSY)
- Standard Duty Pipe Bracket (SKU: STD-BRKT-GR-ASSY)
- Heavy Duty Pipe Bracket (SKU: HD-BRKT-GR-ASSY)
Each bracket is designed to be installed with our patented coupler system, ensuring a secure connection. For optimal performance, we recommend using these pipe brackets in water depths of up to 18 feet. For more specific details, please refer to the individual landing pages for each anchoring bracket.

Piling Bracket
The Piling Bracket Assembly (SKU: PIL-BRKT-GR-ASSY) is specifically designed for anchoring by securing wooden or metal pilings and connects to our modular floating dock system using our patented coupler system. This versatile bracket features a replaceable wear ring and six adjustable pockets, allowing for incremental adjustments in 6.5-inch increments. It accommodates pilings with diameters of up to 16 inches. The Piling Bracket Assembly comes packaged with two coupler sets (SKU: CPLR-SET-GR) and four pocket fillers (SKU: PFILL-SET).
Deadweight Anchoring
For deep water applications, Snap Dock offers two main deadweight anchoring products: the Standard Duty Galvanized Deadweight Bracket (SKU: ANCR) and the Heavy Duty Galvanized Deadweight Bracket (SKU: ANCR-PIPE). These brackets are essential for securing your modular dock system in challenging conditions where traditional anchoring methods may not suffice. Additionally, Male Half Couplers (SKU: HALFCPLR-GR-ASSY), which are required for installation, are sold separately by Snap Dock, with quantities varying based on the bracket used.
- Standard Duty Galvanized Deadweight Bracket: Ideal for calm water conditions, this bracket provides reliable anchoring with less current activity. It is suitable for standard applications where high tension is not a primary concern.
- Heavy Duty Galvanized Deadweight Bracket: Designed for areas with more active currents or for securing larger systems, this heavy-duty bracket offers enhanced strength and stability. It is ideal for more demanding conditions.
Stiff Arm Anchoring
Stiff Arm anchoring is ideal for situations where minimal wave action or environmental regulations prevent traditional anchoring methods, such as augering into the seafloor, lakebed, or rocky substrates. The system includes Snap Dock’s Stiff Arm Assembly (SKU: STIF-ASSY), which is made up of the Heavy Duty Galvanized Deadweight Bracket (SKU: ANCR-PIPE) and the Stiff Arm Adapter (SKU: STIF-ADPT). This system provides a reliable anchoring method for docks where traditional methods aren’t feasible, offering stability and security in varied water conditions.
